The Special Libraries Association is an international association representing information professionals in over eighty countries. From the SLA web site, a "Special Librarians" are defined as:
Special librarians are information resource experts who collect, analyze, evaluate, package, and disseminate information to facilitate accurate decision-making in corporate, academic, and government settings.
To join SLA, visit the SLA Membership Page for an application and more information. When you join, you may choose to join a local chapter (including the Southern California Chapter), as well as numerous divisions focused on specific professional disciplines.
