Why I became a librarian: Becoming a librarian was an evolutionary process beginning with volunteer work in the elementary schools, then a move to public and special libraries. I love the service orientation of the field and the variety of research I am able to do.

My role model is (doesn't have to be a librarian!): The elementary school principal where I had my first paid library position. Her positive attitude and encouragement led me to complete my MLS.

For me, a perfect weekend would include: Relaxing with a good book, a bike ride on the beach, a little gardening and dinner with friends.

Favorite movie: The Sound of Music

People would be surprised to know that I was a statistician for the American Heart Association in NY.
