SLA Announces 2001-2002 Awards Program

The Special Libraries Association Awards and Honors Program was created in 1948 to honor those individuals for their achievements and contributions to the Association and the information profession. Each year since, SLA has provided opportunities for recognizing the best and brightest the information profession has to offer. The purpose of SLA's Awards and Honors Program is to bring acclaim to those who have distinguished themselves in their careers, whilemaking an impact on the profession.  Please refer to the SLA Website for further information, including a description of the SLA awards, the criteria for the awards and the nomination form:

Please note that the deadline for nominations for these awards is December 7, 2001. The one exception is for the International Special Librarians Day (ISLD) Award; the deadline for nominations for this award is May 18, 2002.  Nominations for all SLA Awards and Honors should be sent directly to the SLA Public Communications Office.

I encourage you to consider submitting a nomination. The SLA awards are a significant and tangible way for us to recognize our colleagues who have done outstanding work and who have provided exemplary service to SLA and the profession.

Don't forget that at the local level our Chapter also recognizes members who have provided outstanding service. More information about our Chapter awards will be forthcoming early next year.
